Part One:
Just some thoughts along the way.
I’m watching via Livestream, but have friends and family, including some seminarians and priests that I know, at the beatification.
My parents have mentioned a number of times that Fulton Sheen had an enormous impact on their faith, but I’d like to hear more details some day.
It was so inspiring to watch all of the seminarians, deacons, priests, bishops and cardinals process into the Mass.
I’m especially noticing the deacons, since my husband was ordained a deacon less than two weeks ago. I’m better at spotting them than I used to be! Besides the difference in vestments and the way the stole is worn (compared to priests), I recently learned that it is traditional, when kissing the altar, for the priests to place their hands on the altar and for the deacons to cross their arms over their chests (if they are able to).
I love the vestments and pins with the JMJ logo to honor Fulton Sheen!
I’ve been especially struck by the focus on Fulton Sheen’s promise to make a Holy Hour each day.
I also love his episcopal motto: “Grant that I may come to you through your mother.”
