The Liturgy of the Word

“For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law who will be justified.” – Romans 2:13

“To welcome Jesus’ words is to welcome ‘The Kingdom Itself’” – Catechism of the Catholic Church #764

“Traditionally the Church’s eucharistic liturgy has always included more than one reading. Why? Because liturgically and homiletically a reading from Scripture can never be interpreted solely on its own. Thus the Church responds to biblical fundamentalism. The Scriptures are always to be interpreted as they “rub up against one another’.” – John Baldovin, Bread of Life, Cup of Salvation

Welcome to Small Catholic

I’m fascinated by contrasts and have long enjoyed the concept of smallness, perhaps especially in the context of the wonder that comes from gazing up into the dome of St. Peter’s Basilica or enjoying the vastness of a starry sky.

I’m a Catholic, deacon-candidate-wife, mom/mom-in-law to 7; retired homeschool mom & parish DRE; ADHD, Celiac, HSP; I love learning and writing.
