About Me

I’m fascinated by contrasts and have long enjoyed the concept of smallness, perhaps especially in the context of the wonder that comes from gazing up into the dome of St. Peter’s Basilica or enjoying the vastness of a starry sky.

Here’s a very old photo of me sitting beneath one of the tallest trees in the world…

I also love this photo my husband took a few years ago across the dome of the Basilica of St. Peter in Rome. If you look REALLY carefully you can see a person (presumably a security guard) sitting at a desk on the far side of the dome. Obviously God is much bigger than anything people can build, but an enormous basilica can give us a tiny (pun fully intended) bit of perspective on our relationship with Him.

I’m a nerdy Catholic wife and mother of six (ages 20-30). I’m a retired homeschool educator and retired parish director of religious education. I’m a certified Catechesis of the Good Shepherd catechist and in the midst of formation classes for the permanent diaconate alongside my husband of 30+ years. I love children and the Church and I love learning and writing. Hopefully this will be a place where those interests and experiences can intersect and mix together and possibly lead to something useful or interesting.
